The Ins and Outs of the Rainy Season.

We wish we had pictures for this one.....but I am sure that it will happen again so you will have to use your imagination.

I was at a Thai Culture course all day (Day 1 of 3) and Vince was working at home. Eight of us had planned to meet with one of the Thai teachers on soi 166  (street 166) for dinner which is a 7 min bike ride to the adjacent community. One couple lives on the next street so we headed out on our bikes with full rain ponchos on because it was starting to rain. One minute later we are in the biggest downpour imaginable so we made it to their house where we all hung out for and hour chatting and having cocktails and snacks. A lot revolves around food here and finding the right snack food is becoming an art. Western food is expensive so we experiment with others....salt is salt.

Our usual food hangout....tables in the middle of 4 food stalls.

An hour later, the rain let up and off we went flying down the road (6 bikes + 1 scooter) with only 2 flashing lights (mine) keeping us visible. We took our usual left turn after the basketball court to find that the road was completely flooded from the down pour. Putting our heads together and armed with 3G and GPS we worked our way (the long way) through Perfect Place and out to our street. Funny how it didn't flood in Perfect Place:). We have been warned about needing rubber boots for riding and we really saw it tonight with the water well up over our axels. Long story short-we made it.

We had a great dinner and heading back it was now 9 pm and we felt like we could tackle the flooded street. Seriously, if you told me that I would be riding half a kilometre down a street filled with filthy water (Hepatitis A was mentioned often) in my flip flops just to get home I would tell you that you were crazy! We showered (scrubbed) both ourselves and our shoes and put rubber boots on the shopping list......ready for the next excursion.

I promise I will get pictures the next time it floods or at least the road to school which was ankle deep and had newly sodded grass floating in it.

  1. Just received a check for over $500.

Sometimes people don't believe me when I tell them about how much money you can get by taking paid surveys online...

So I show them a video of myself actually getting paid over $500 for participating in paid surveys to set the record straight.
