Things That Don't Surprise Us Anymore

There are some things that strike me as funny now, only because we are so used to them. We seem to have made Wed nights a regular pizza night at a local place...it's cheap night and the pizza is always good. We were there on Wednesday when it started to rain, and then pour and then pour some more. It was raining so hard that there was almost no space in between the drops and it was pouring down the street. As we pondered waiting it out, someone mentioned that "we better go now before the road floods" meaning the road between home and the pizza place. Next thing I knew, Vince was stripping off his shoes and socks and getting ready to ride barefoot. I, on the other hand was thankfully in flip flops. It's only a 6 minute ride but even with ponchos we were soaked from the thigh down. I wished I could have taken a picture. Funny, how flooding is just part of the day.

Another gem over heard at school....it was great today....only reached 33 deg.

I took Vince for a quick tour of the klong before it got dark....so the abridged 25 min version. This is a bit of what we saw. People living alongside the klong are very friendly there and it never ceases to amaze me to see a 1 room house made os plywood with nothing more than a small couch and a TV.

This is part of my regular run and it is really safe to run in these areas so will be expanding my klong-knowledge very soon. It takes you away from traffic and into a world that is incredble and makes you realize that happiness really does come in all forms.

In the distance you can see the roofs of Perfect Place.

This is from a while ago at a market...

So, you don't get the wrong impression-we do have big grocery stores where you can find "things from home". Molasses is still eluding me though. This is a 4km/15 min bike ride from our house.

This is how we buy the chicken and other meats. Self serve.

If you want to have some fun you can check out our bike route to get to the store. We don't go often but getting out meat there until we learn a bit more about the market meat.

For those not familiar, drag the little yellow man to the part of the map you want to see. You can plainly see the motorcycles/scooters on the sidewalks at some points-shared by all.

We are on the lookout for this person who was last spotted boarding a plane to Singapore. Recent reports suggest that he may look like this.

...or like this.

We look forward to seeing you, Nico and we need a guinea pig to try some of those things at the market that we are not quite sure of.
